you never need an account to read. we don't ask for your email to open an issue or a piece.

if you sign in with apple, google or an email link, we keep your email, a display name, your handle and, if the provider shares one, an avatar. apple may give us a private relay address instead of your real one; that's fine.

we use this only to keep your drafts, show your pieces under your handle, and send the notices you turn on.

drafts are private to you. when you submit, kiki and her editors read your piece. nothing is public until an editor approves it.

once approved, your piece, title and handle are public on the web and in the app, and can be shared with a preview image. we screen new pieces with an automated safety check to help editors spot harm; it doesn't publish or reject anything on its own.

kiki posts each prompt on instagram. with her account connected, we import the public comments on that post — the comment text, the commenter's username and its time — so editors can consider them like any other submission. imported comments go through the same approval before anything is published.

if you'd rather your comment not be considered, delete it on instagram or write to us and we'll remove it.

we count page views in aggregate to know what people read. no advertising trackers, no selling or sharing for ads, no cross-site profiles.

if you turn on notices for new prompts or being featured, we store a device token so we can send them. turn them off in the you tab any time.

open the you tab, choose delete account and type the confirmation. we delete your account, profile, drafts and device tokens right away, and remove your published pieces. copies in backups expire within 30 days.
